Since joining STB as a Management Executive, I’ve had one amazing experience after another. From experiencing the glitz and glamour of the Singapore Fashion Festival, to cooking up the biggest Chilli Crab Feast at the Singapore Food Festival, I am continually taken out of my comfort zone and challenged to be proactive and think creatively. The fast-paced world of fashion is notoriously difficult to handle; it is something I’m still trying to come to terms with. But I’m positive that if I can manage these people, I can manage anything. The exposure STB accords its graduates in the management training programme is undoubtedly tremendous, and that is something that I am truly grateful for.
Being in STB also gives me the ideal opportunity to sell Singapore to the world, by playing an active role in shaping the tourism landscape, which is positively booming right now. From the development of two Integrated Resorts, the rejuvenation of Orchard Road and now Formula One, the list of initiatives and projects being churned out to develop the tourism industry is virtually endless.
The cherry on top? Definitely the people I work with. The Management Trainees are a great bunch, with diverse backgrounds and personalities, but all with the same thirst for making a difference and having a good time while at it!
Putting Singapore in the global spotlight has been a fast-paced and highly rewarding journey for me. Ride this journey with me and grab a piece of the action as a Management Trainee today!
