Starting my career in the BTMICE division provided me the frontline opportunity to partake in key MICE tradeshows, road shows and overseas seminars to meet with various key industry players and clientele to understand their needs and eventually, win or secure that additional visitor for Singapore.
In contrast, my subsequent role in the Integrated Resorts division challenged my ability to balance national interests against commercial / business decisions to meet the common objectives for the successful developments of the 2 integrated resorts. Due to the immensity of the scale of the IR project coupled with tight timelines, the entire team was stretched to our maximum potential which translated to long late nights and tough decisions which had to be made. It was however extremely fulfilling and a huge pleasure to be working with these colleagues, whom I've grown to trust and rely on and have become close friends with due to this project.
Edward, Bernice, Susanah, Shameem, Sandra, Melissa, Chris, Cindy... and the list goes on.... the team and the people that I work with make my stay in STB an absolute joy.
Overall, my 6 years spent in STB has been quite challenging and enriching due to the opportunities that helped broaden my horizons as well as honed my skills in relationship management and project/event management work.
And the opportunities just keep coming. Now, I’m having the best time of my career as the Assistant Director in New York dealing with business travel. It’s a great learning ground for any officer; and the challenges have stretched my capabilities. The experiences are simply priceless and I would not exchange this for anything else.
